Architects Ink were engaged to provide new interiors to an existing two-storey residence, a circa 1990 Georgian reproduction home. Our philosophy was to use the existing spaces and ornate detailing highlighted in all white as a backdrop for the interior design, where new materials, functional layouts, joinery, furniture and lighting were inserted. Better connections were created between adjacent spaces and to the gardens and terrace with new access to natural light and ventilation.
The design focus was to create a relationship of interior elements with a wholistic approach; the consistency of materials resonates throughout. Furniture and feature lighting were carefully curated in a classic but contemporary style to reflect the clients’ lifestyle for many years to come.
The final product can be considered a type of sophisticated restrained opulence which maintained and acknowledged the existing.
